1. Who we are
KidsNest.ca ("we", "us") is operated by Main IT Inc., based in Ontario, Canada. We provide a moderated peer-to-peer video platform for teens ages 13–18, with parental oversight.
2. What we collect
- Parents: name, email, IP address, country, account creation timestamp, consent records.
- Teens (created by the parent): username, display name, birth date, grade, photo (optional), bio, selected interests.
- Call data: every session is recorded (video + audio), transcribed for AI safety analysis, and stored for the configured retention window (default 30 days). The recording is accessible only to the parent and authorized moderators.
- AI safety analysis: transcripts and AI-generated flags are stored alongside the session.
- Usage data: session timing, scheduling, friendships, group memberships, in-platform reports.
3. Lawful basis (GDPR)
We process personal data under the lawful bases of contract (delivering the service the parent signed up for), legitimate interest (child safety), and explicit consent (cookies, optional features).
4. COPPA compliance
The platform requires a verified parent to create the teen's profile. We do not knowingly collect data directly from children under 13. If you are 12 or younger, please do not use this site.
5. Your rights
You can:
- Access all data we hold about you and your teens — see Account data.
- Export as machine-readable JSON.
- Correct profile information from your dashboard.
- Delete your account, which cascades to all your teens' data and any recording files.
- Withdraw consent at any time — note this requires deleting the account.
For EU users: you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
6. How long we keep data
Session recordings are deleted automatically after 30 days (configurable per parent on paid tiers, up to 1 year). Account data is kept while the account is active; deletion is complete within 30 days of request.
7. Who sees this data
Recordings and AI flags are accessible only to the parent who created the teen, and to KidsNest moderators reviewing safety incidents. We do not sell or share personal data with third parties for advertising.
Subprocessors: Daily.co (video transport), OpenAI (transcription), Anthropic (safety analysis), Hostinger (hosting), our SMTP provider (configured by admin).
